Crawdad/ IG2B YITM Planning Event
PLAN to make a difference in the Mountains!!
You are invited to help plan a three-day youth-driven arts and music festival/conference to take place at SKCTC April 21-23, 2017 in Harlan County.
The event, which will take place mostly in Cumberland, is a combination of Crawdad and It’s Good To Be Young in the Mountains (IG2BYITM). Since 2008, Crawdad has been a forum for mostly young, mostly local artists and bands, selected by SKCTC students and others working on the Crawdad committee. It’s Good To Be Young in the Mountains was a conference held in Harlan in 2015, organized by youth leadership from throughout Appalachia and included concerts, exhibits, and workshops designed for youth by youth. The April event will include a Friday night Crawdad concert, IG2BYITM workshops all day Saturday, a concert Saturday night, and a wrap-up on Sunday. We need help with food, music, art, workshops, all of it. Lead coordinator Cassidy Wright (email@example.com) says she wants the event to be “inclusive, unifying, welcoming, feel free and safe, and make people feel hopeful.” Please come help make it so!
The next planning meeting for It's Good To Be Young in the Mountains 2/Crawdad will take place Thursday January 26 at 3pm in Room 119 of the Godbey Appalachian Center on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College. We are working to make this meeting available for phone-in participation for those of you who cannot be here in person.
