Bio

An Associate Professor of English, Dr. Day leads Appalachian Studies and Women & Gender Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. She is a faculty advisor of the EKU Alphabet Center and Feminists for Change, and she is a certified instructor of the Green Dot Anti-Violence and Bystander Awareness curriculum. An active editor, Dr. Day has co-edited From Slavery to Liberation: The African American Experience, Journeys Home: An Anthology of Contemporary African Diasporic Experience (with Dr. Salome Nnoromele), five literary journals published by Military Experience and the Arts, and other print and web publications. Her scholarship has appeared in publications such as the It Works For Me pedagogical series, The Explicator, and Critique, and her creative work has appeared in Poetry as Prayer: Appalachian Women SpeakThe Notebook: A Progressive Journal about Women and Girls with Rural and Small Town Roots, and the Kentucky Explorer. She has presented papers for the EKU Chautauqua Lecture Series, the National Women's Studies Association, the Northeast Modern Language Association, and the Kentucky Philological Association, among many other conferences. 

Her regularly scheduled classes include Intro to Women & Gender Studies, Feminist Theory & Practice, Women's Literature, and Rape Culture in Literature & Media. Dr. Day also teaches study abroad courses in Italy and Ireland. She is originally from Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.
